Carnival!
JSM music students celebrated the international festival of Carnival on Mardi Gras. We read the children’s book Malaika’s Costume by Nadia Hohn and learned about carnival celebrations around the world from Quebec to Trinidad and Tobago. We culminated our learning in a Carnival parade, with homemade ribbons, masks and instruments and some soca music to dance to.
